The present invention relates to a horizontal arrangement type tension compression tester, and the components thereof comprise: a sample base unit on which a sample is mounted; a static load applying unit which presses and fixes the sample which is mounted on the sample base unit in the vertical direction; a fixing unit which supports both ends of the sample which is mounted on the sample base unit; a dynamic load applying unit which operates so as to apply tension or compression force to the sample which is mounted on the sample base unit; a temperature control unit which controls temperature such that the sample which is mounted on the sample base unit has predetermined temperature; and a control unit which detects a load and a change in the state of the sample according to the operation of the dynamic load applying unit, and which controls the operations of each component.
