<p>The present invention relates to a pressure sensor for use in a milking system for milking a dairy animal. In one embodiment the pressure sensor includes a body, an elastic diaphragm in the body–having a measuring side and a reference side, wherein deflection of the diaphragm is indicative of pressure on the measuring side. The sensor includes a protrusion extending from a surface of the diaphragm, where the protrusion is configured as an optical barrier for a light source arranged to emit light, and a light detector arranged to detect emitted light and generate an output, wherein the light source and the light detector are arranged relative to the protrusion such that the output of the light detector is indicative of the deflection of the diaphragm. The protrusion, and at least a portion of the body surrounding the diaphragm, are made of the same material as the diaphragm.</p> |
