PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable data providing method for confirming payment information for data downloaded in a portable storage device.SOLUTION: A portable data storage medium includes: an interface for transmitting and receiving data; a nonvolatile data memory for storing received content data; and a nonvolatile confirmation memory for supplying payment confirmation data to an external device. The storage medium stores: a record of access performed to a content; and auxiliary data such as a content usage rule for controlling the access to the content, access control data, a hot link to a website and advertisement data. A combination of payment data and the stored content data and the usage rule data reduce a risk that unpermitted access to data such as compressed music and video data is performed especially through the Internet.
