The present invention relates to a receiver and method for receiving digital broadcasting signals. According to one aspect of the present invention, provided is a digital broadcasting receiver comprising: a digital data extraction unit for receiving a digital broadcasting signal transmitted on a real time basis, and extracting program-related information and/or digital data from the digital broadcasting signal; a file generating unit for generating a digital file using the program-related information and/or digital data; and a storage unit for storing the digital file. The digital broadcasting receiver transmits the digital file to an external device. According to the present invention, the digital broadcasting signal is converted into the digital file and transmitted to the external device, thus enabling playback of the digital data by only connecting the digital broadcasting receiver of the present invention to the external device without performing additional operations onto the external device.
