Method for anchoring spikes in the tread of a pneumatic tyre for vehicles

The method involves inserting spikes into spike holes (6) in a tread of a pneumatic tire under pressure of rubber materials. The spikes are coated with an adhesive system before the spikes are inserted into the spike holes. The adhesive system with the spikes positioned in the spike holes is activated by heat such that an adhesive bond of the spikes is made to the rubber materials of the tread. The adhesive system applied on the spikes is activated by heated air, superheated steam or high temperature water. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an apparatus for coating spikes with an adhesive system (2) a device for activating an adhesive system.
