The open end of a cup-shaped casing 2 containing a rectifier stack 1 is sealed by means of a plug 10 consisting of a resilient insulating washer 11 compressed between rigid washers 12 into engagement with the casing and one connecting wire 5 which passes through the plug. The compression is effected by swaging over the lip 2a of the casing, inward movement of the plug being prevented by an insulating liner 9. The plug also holds under compression a resilient pressure pad 13 which engages the rectifier stack. This pad may be replaced by a spring, Fig. 2 (not shown). Connection to the other end of the stack is made by a wire 4 sealed through a hole 8 by solder or alternatively soldered to the outside of the casing, the stack in this case abutting the end of the casing. |
