Provided are apparatus and a method for depositing and withdrawing a bill, enabling a customer to conveniently deposit and withdraw the bill. The apparatus for depositing and withdrawing the bill includes a carriage unit which receives the bill by clamping the bill inputted to the deposition and withdrawal part of an ATM and transfers the bill to the deposition and withdrawal part by clamping the bill to be withdrawn, a separation integrated unit which includes a separation space to separate the inputted bill into sheets and an integrated space to integrate the bill to be withdrawn, a carriage transfer unit which moves the carriage unit along a moving track between the deposition and withdrawal part and the separation integrated unit, and a controller which controls the movement of the bill.
