Provided is a fuel injection pump configured so that the deterioration of a seal ring provided between the shaft outer peripheral surface of a delivery valve seat and the inner peripheral surface of a plunger barrel is prevented and the durability of the seal ring is improved. Horizontal holes (25) are formed in the outer peripheral surface of the upper end of a plunger barrel (5). The horizontal holes (25) connect the inside of a recess (21) and a gap formed between the outer peripheral surface of the shaft section (4a) of a delivery valve seat (4) and the inner peripheral surface of the plunger barrel (5).
