A “safe zone” can be created within which the effect of the actual cursor position is overridden when selecting content. The start position and the end position of the selection can be compared. If the selection is a forward selection but the cursor position has moved upwards, the vertical component of the cursor position is overridden by the vertical position of the cursor at the start of the selection. If the selection is a reverse selection but the cursor position has moved downwards, the the vertical component of the cursor position is overridden by the vertical position of the cursor at the start of the selection. The safe zone can have any kind of shape.

at least one processor: a memory connected to the at least one processor; and a module that when loaded into the at least one processor causes the at least one processor to: receive input comprising an operation manipulating content; and create a safe zone in which an effect of a location of a cursor used to manipulate the content is overridden by a location of the cursor at a start of the operation.
