There is disclosed a honeycomb structure onto which a large amount of catalyst can be carried while suppressing an increase in pressure drop. In a honeycomb structure comprising porous partition walls by which a plurality of cells that become through channels of a fluid are partitioned and in which a plurality of pores are formed. In each of the partition walls, pores having pore diameters larger than a thickness of the partition wall in a section thereof which is perpendicular to an extending direction of the cells are formed so as to occupy 4 to 11% of the total volume of the pores formed in the partition walls. |

1. A manufacturing method of a honeycomb structure comprising:
a kneaded clay preparing step of mixing and kneading forming raw materials containing a ceramic raw material to obtain a kneaded clay; a forming step of extruding and forming the obtained kneaded clay into a honeycomb shape to obtain a honeycomb formed article; and a firing step of drying and firing the obtained honeycomb formed article to obtain the honeycomb structure including porous partition walls by which a plurality of cells that become through channels of a fluid are partitioned, wherein in the kneaded clay preparing step, a pore former having an average particle diameter larger than a thickness of each of the partition walls of the obtained honeycomb structure is added to the ceramic raw material to prepare the kneaded clay.
