摘要 An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce the number of processes by manufacturing an array substrate for the LCD by using a four mask process and prevent light basically which is applied to the rear of the substrate from being irradiated to a semiconductor layer, thereby preventing the semiconductor layer from being exposed to light and accordingly perfectly preventing generation of photocurrents. A gate line is disposed on a substrate(50). A data line(56) is disposed as crossing the gate line, and defines a pixel by crossing the gate line. A TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is disposed in the pixel and electrically connected with the gate line and the data line. A pixel electrode(70) is electrically connected to the TFT. The TFT comprises the following parts. A first source electrode(52a) and a first drain electrode(52b) are spaced from each other. A gate electrode(58) is disposed on the first source and drain electrodes. A semiconductor layer(62) is disposed on the gate electrode. A second source electrode(64a) and a second drain electrode(64b) are disposed on the semiconductor layer as being spaced from each other. A first connection electrode(68a) electrically connects the first and second source electrodes. A second connection electrode(68b) electrically connects the first and second drain electrodes. The gate electrode is partially overlapped with each of the first source electrode and the first drain electrode. The semiconductor layer has smaller width than the gate electrode.
