The present invention provides a frequency optimization method for a communication system, which comprises: determining the inter-cell interference probability in a network according to data of a network measurement report; generating a list of to-be-optimized cells according to the inter-cell main carrier interference probability; calculating the sum of interference probabilities under main carrier frequency points of all cells according to the list of the to-be-optimized cells and data of the frequency points of the current network cell; calculating the sum of the interference probabilities when all the frequency points in a frequency group are used as the frequency points of the to-be-optimized cells, and selecting the frequency points of the interference probability from the frequency group; and using the frequency point with minimum interference as a cell main frequency point, and distributing the frequency group corresponding to the main frequency point to the cell to perform frequency optimization. The frequency optimization is performed according to the descending sequence of the total interference probability of the main carrier frequency points. According to the frequency optimization method, the manpower, physical resources and test cost which are required for frequency optimization are reduced, and the optimization result is more in line with the mobility of actual network users.
