PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage of a node, when dehydrating by compression by inserting veneer between a pair of rolls oppositely provided at a desired interval (V) remarkably narrower than a thickness (P) of the veneer.SOLUTION: By using a support mechanism having a support pin (unillustrated) for fragmenting a lower roll into a plurality of small width rolls 1 and pivoting the respective small width rolls 1 via a bearing, a support member 3 composed of a pair of left-right support tools 3A,3B for fixing both end parts of the support pin and a holding member 4 for rockably holding the respective support members 3 via a fulcrum pin 4a, the respective small width rolls 1 are mutually, individually and rockably supported at a predetermined interval, and pressing force within a range of being sufficient for compressing a part except for the node of the veneer 9 passing through a part of the respective small width rolls 1 to a thickness equal to the desired interval V and of not destructively crushing a structure of the node, is also imparted to a pressing mechanism 5 connected to the respective support members 3 via a connecting tool 6, and the respective small width rolls 1 are pressed to a driving roll 8 oppositely provided upward. |
