The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving information for the screen display of advertisement data. The method and the apparatus provided by the present invention are able to perform an encoding and a decoding respectively in a transmitting side and a receiving side according to standards by defining and providing unified standards which are related to the way of the screen display of promotion or advertisement data; display the decoded promotion or advertisement data on a screen in a consistent form regardless of type of a receiving terminal; and equally reflect the intention of an advertiser in all terminals by displaying the same advertisement on the screen in the consistent form regardless of type of the receiving terminal as mentioned above.
