[Also in Group XXV] A rectilinear-motion bearing 19 comprises a channel-shaped housing 49 in which a roller 51 is rotatably mounted so as to roll along the upper surfaces of beam rails 18, 23 of dollies 11, 12. A braking member 56 is pivotally mounted on the spindle 52 of the roller 51 and at one side of the roller it carries a shoe 60 which is adapted to engage the top of the rail when a screw member 68 is actuated, the screw actuation causing pivoted claws 76 to grip the rail thereby locking the roller to the rail. Four such bearings 19 support a load for movement along the parallel beams 18 of the elevating type dolly 11. The load may be transferred to a dolly 12, having parallel beams 23, by aligning the beams 18, 23 and locking them together by the engagement of a male cone portion 44, attached to one rail, with a corresponding female conical portion on the adjacent rail and the tightening of a bolt 34. Spring-pressed stops 78 are provided adjacent the ends of the beams. |
