Class 52(2) An adjustable chair comprises a base 10 and a seat portion 11 pivoted to a front crossbar 14 of the base so as to be capable of movement transverse to the pivotal axis and angularly adjustable on the base by means of a series of hooks 36 which engage a rear crossbar 15 of the base. The front of the seat carries a pair of U-shaped brackets 27 which embrace the front crossbar 14. The back rest is preferably integral with the seat and the sides of the base are provided with arm rests. According to the Provisional Specification the seat and back rest may be hinged together and the seat pivoted to the base so as to be incapable of transverse movement, in which case adjustment is effected by the engagement of a crossbar carried by the seat back with toothed racks fixed to upward extensions of the base. A similar arrangement is described with the seat and back rest fixed together.</p> |
