The present invention relates to a passport reading apparatus having a first zone including optical information (P) of a traveler. A passport reading apparatus of the present invention includes a housing which has a first area, where a first zone is placed, on an upper plane, and has an inner space; a color chart which is arranged on a lower plane of the housing corresponding to the first zone, and includes a reference color having a unique RGB value; a lighting part which is installed in the inner space, and can irradiate a light to the first area; a photographing part which is installed in the inner space, and generates and outputs an image signal obtained by photographing the first area; an RGB value calculation part which is connected to the photographing part, and calculates an RGB value of the reference color included in the image signal; and a fault diagnosis part which is connected to the RGB value calculation part, and compares the RGB value of the reference color with the unique RGB value. |
