发明名称 Potential producing electric cell
摘要 816,036. Batteries. RUBEN, S. Oct. 4, 1957, No. 31120/57. Class 53. A potential-producing cell has a solid electrolyte 13 of bismuth sulphate or antimony sulphate. The positive electrode material 15 may consist of lead peroxide or oxides of manganese or vanadium mixed with graphite or of the permanganates of barium, potassium, silver or copper mixed with graphite, and below the positive material is a member 14 of nickelchromium alloy. The negative electrode 12 may consist of carbon or graphite, a nickelchromium alloy, steel, chromium, antimony, tin, lead, or aluminium. The electrolyte 13 is made by compressing the sulphate of antimony or bismuth into discs which are then crushed and again pressed into discs. A small quantity of a silicone may be mixed with the sulphate to prevent absorption of moisture. The positive electrode may be made by electrodepositing lead peroxide from lead nitrate solution on to a strip of nickel-chromium alloy from which discs are punched. Alternatively lead peroxide may be compressed with a binder such as gum arabic, paraffin, styrene, polyvinyl compounds &c. A battery may be formed by superimposing cells under pressure in a nickel-plated steel container lined with styrene and closed by an insulated metal cover. The container is evacuated and closed hermetically. The pressure between the cells may be maintained by a spring. Cells may be made in roll form from nickelchromium foils, respectively coated with lead peroxide and uncoated, and separated by paper impregnated with sulphate of bismuth or antimony.
