An automatic safety system for an upper part of an elevator car is disclosed. The automatic safety system for an upper part of an elevator car comprises: a movement sensing part outputting a movement sensing signal by sensing the movement of an object in the upper part of the elevator car; a human body sensing part outputting a human body sensing signal by sensing the temperature of the object in the upper part of the elevator car; and a control unit stopping the operation of the elevator car when the movement sensing signal or the human body sensing signal is outputted.
