The sliding cam (1) has a differential valve lift that is adjusted and positioned with an intermediate cam portions (3,4) of gate section (2), and viewed in lateral surface in circumferential direction of gate section. The gate section has several grooves (7,8) that are formed one after the other, for axial displacement of slide cam along a cam shaft cooperating with actuating pin. The shift cam is formed as a monolithic component, such that the grooves are limited only in circumferential portions of cam, in axial direction of displacement by groove walls (12,13).
