The method involves determining availability of vehicle systems, and executing controlling of the vehicle systems based on positively determined availability of the vehicle systems. The execution of the controlling is interrupted by a driver, where safety-relevant functions of a hybrid vehicle comprise testing of a switching-off path of a controlling system and/or testing of sleeping errors according to ISO 26262 and/or detection of high voltage interferences of a battery. A signal is transmitted from a charging device to a CAN bus.
