PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the current position of a head in seek operation even when a servo information division method is employed.SOLUTION: A disk storage unit includes a disk, a read module, and servo control means. The disk has servo information for detecting a radial position divided and recorded in a plurality of servo areas. The read module reads the servo information out of the plurality of servo areas using a head. The servo control means includes a state observer, and makes the state observer operate according to an initial value including a temporary position while performing a seek operation based upon the initial value until the current position of the head is determined when performing the seek operation while the current position of the head is indeterminate, determines the current position on the basis of the servo information read out of the plurality of servo areas by read means and the estimation result of the state observer, and controls the seek operation up to a target position on the basis of the determined current position. |
