Disclosed are an apparatus for controlling a lift in a multi vending machine, which is capable of automatically controlling the drive of the lift by automatically sensing that goods are caught in the lift or the lift is held by a shelf, and a method thereof. The disclosed apparatus for controlling a lift in a multi vending machine comprises: an encoder which detects the number of revolutions of a motor which drives the lift operated for product sale; a shelf position detecting unit which detects the position of a shelf where the lift is positioned; a control unit which controls the operation of the lift by determining a status of the lift according to the number of revolutions detected by the encoder and the position of the shelf outputted by the shelf position detecting unit and generating a sale suspension control signal when an abnormal operation of the lift occurs; and a lift driving unit which drives the lift under the control of the control unit. |
