A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device are provided to differentiate the luminance characteristic by the display area using backlight units having different brightness by the display area. A backlight unit of a liquid crystal display device comprises a light source(120), a light guide plate(130), a light reflection unit(150), and a light source housing(140). The light guide plate surrounds and guides the light to be emitted to the front direction. The light reflection unit place at the lower part of the light guide plate reflects light which is emitted to the bottom direction to the front direction. The light source housing exposes an upper part in order to transmit the light to the front direction. |
