A magnetic disk device comprising: a magnetic disk including a first disk surface and a second disk surface; a first laser diode that is provided in a first magnetic head which is used to record or reproduce data on or from the first disk surface; a second laser diode that is provided in a second magnetic head which is used to record or reproduce data on or from the second disk surface; a first reading element that is provided in the first magnetic head; a first diode that is connected in series to the first reading element; a second reading element that is provided in the second magnetic head; a second diode that is connected in series to the second reading element; a first heater element that heats a slider of the first magnetic head; a third diode that is connected in series to the first heater element; a second heater element that heats a slider of the second magnetic head; a fourth diode that is connected in series to the second heater element; a laser current control unit that includes a first current terminal which is commonly connected to a positive electrode of the first laser diode and a negative electrode of the second laser diode and a second current terminal which is commonly connected to a negative electrode of the first laser diode and a positive electrode of the second laser diode and can switch a current polarity between the first current terminal and the second current terminal; a read current control unit that includes a third current terminal which is commonly connected to a positive electrode of the first diode and a negative electrode of the second diode and a fourth current terminal which is commonly connected to a negative electrode of the first diode and a positive electrode of the second diode and can switch the current polarity between the third current terminal and the fourth current terminal; and a heater control unit that includes a fifth current terminal which is commonly connected to a positive electrode of the third diode and a negative electrode of the fourth diode and a sixth current terminal which is commonly connected to a negative electrode of the third diode and a positive electrode of the fourth diode and can switch a current polarity between the fifth current terminal and the sixth current terminal.
