PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time required for image density adjustment control, while suppressing defects due to a long length of toner patches.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus detects the amount of toner adhered on toner patches with a density sensor, and executes image density adjustment control on the basis of the detected toner adhesion amount. The image forming apparatus forms toner patterns for detection timing adjustment (position adjustment patterns for adjusting relative positions of respective color toner images formed by a plurality of toner image forming units) before forming the toner patches, and adjusts the timing at which the density sensor detects the toner patches on the basis of the timing at which the density sensor detects the toner patterns. |
