The invention relates to a switchable valve train element (1) of an internal combustion engine, which is configured as a support element, comprising a housing (2), which can be arranged in a guide or receptacle (4) of the internal combustion engine (5) by way of the outer shell (3) thereof, said housing (2) being assembled with an inner element (6), which, in contrast, is relatively movable axially. The housing (2) is cut at a height section of at least one receptacle (7) for at least one coupling means (8), by way of which coupling element (8) the inner element (6) can optionally be connected to the housing (2). Above an end face (9) of the housing (2), a protective cap (10) is detachably mounted, the ring (11) of which extends along the outer shell (3) of the housing (2), at least beyond the receptacle (7) for the coupling means (8). |
