The braking- or clamping device has two brake shoes (91) oppositely arranged at a base body (10), where the brake shoes contact a guide rail (7) for braking and clamping. A one- or multi-part recess is arranged in the base body between its front and rear face surfaces. The portions of the recess are arranged partially along a base body groove or along the outer base body side walls. The recess portions installed about the base body groove and the paired recess portions arranged along the base body side walls are used separately or in combination. The recess or the recess portions is closed in the region of the face surfaces.
