Classes 97(1) and 98(1) Optical range finder of the kind providing two paths for light rays from an object, comprises concave and plane reflecting surfaces in at least one path, the said surfaces being so arranged that the light rays are reflected an even number of times by the concave reflecting surface or surfaces and an even number by the plane reflecting surface or surfaces and a real image of the object is formed between two reflections on the concave reflecting surface or surfaces, means being provided for combining the light rays of the two paths, and further means being provided for observing the combined light rays. As shown in Fig. 1, a combined range finder and view finder for a photographic camera is rotatable about a shaft 15, 15<SP>1</SP> for parallax compensation, and comprises a plane mirror 10 which reflects one beam of light 2 from an object to a concave mirror 11, whereby a real image of the object is formed in a field-limiting frame 12, which image is relayed by a second concave mirror 13 and a partial reflector 6 to the focal plane 8 of an objective 7. In this focal plane is also formed from a beam 1 a second image of the object, this beam passing through adjusting wedges 3 and a Dove prism 4. The two images of the objective are observable in an eyepiece 9. In another form there is a single concave reflector which reflects the light rays twice, the image formed by the first reflection being located in the plane of a field-limiting frame, behind which is a plane mirror. |
