Disclosed is a method for encoding and decoding a multi-channel audio signal according to an embodiment of the present invention, which includes a step of encoding a multi-channel audio signal according to a predetermined encoding method; a step of generating a header which includes the position information of a speaker where an audio signal according to the channel of the multi-channel audio signal is to be mapped; and a step of generating a bit stream including the header and the encoded multi-channel audio signal. The position information includes first information which represents the height of the speaker based on the position of a listener and second information which represents the horizontal angle of the speaker.
