PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid oxide fuel cell system in which temperature in a desulfurizer can be controlled to a temperature suitable for performing hydrodesulfurization and the temperature distribution in the desulfurizer can be uniformed.SOLUTION: A solid oxide fuel cell system includes: a solid oxide fuel cell 6 generating power by a power generation reaction utilizing supplied fuel and air; a combustion section 23 combusting fuel and air which have not been utilized in the solid oxide fuel cell 6; a desulfurizer 3 in which a desulfurization agent 25 for removing a sulfur component contained in supplied raw materials through hydrodesulfurization is filled; and a reformer 4 producing reformed gas used as fuel from the raw materials from which the sulfur component has been removed by the desulfurizer 3. The desulfurizer 3 is installed in an exhaust gas passage 20 where exhaust gas produced by the combustion section 23 circulates, and a contact area between a wall surface constituting the desulfurizer 3 and the desulfurization agent 25 is larger on the downstream side than on the upstream side in the exhaust gas passage 20.
