PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifogging agent capable of providing a coating film excellent in antifogging property, persistent antifogging property, and adhesion property to a base material, and having enough handleability and viscosity stability.SOLUTION: An antifogging agent includes: a monomer unit having a group represented by formula (1); and vinyl alcohol-based polymer satisfying formula (I). The vinyl alcohol-based polymer preferably further satisfies formulae (II) and (III). 370≤P×S≤6,000 (I). 200≤P≤4,000 (II). 0.1≤S≤10 (III). P: average degree of polymerization.
