The device has a measuring unit for measuring generated flame (26) and free charge carriers that are provided with plasma stream. The measuring unit comprises an electrically conductive electrode (38) and a unit for measuring the electric current in the electrode. An electrostatic field (42) is generated by applying electric voltage to the electrode. The electrode is designed as flat and planar running electrode that is angled at longitudinal sides. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for determining intensity of flame; and (2) a furnace.
