<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which is an imaging apparatus for generating a display image and detecting a phase difference, on the basis of an image signal read from the read-out region of an imaging element and prevents the reduction of the accuracy of focus detection on the basis of the detected phase difference.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus including the imaging element including a pixel part having a plurality of photoelectric conversion parts with respect to one microlens sets a first read-out region from the pixel part, performs the detection processing of the phase difference of the image signal read from the first read-out region, and outputs the reliability of the phase difference. The imaging apparatus determines the success or failure of the detection of the phase difference, on the basis of the reliability of the phase difference. The imaging apparatus executes focus adjustment processing on the basis of the detected phase difference, when the detection of the phase difference succeeds and sets a second read-out region wider than the range of the first read-out region as a read-out region and sets other regions except a region used for generating the display image in the first read-out region as an object to be trimmed from the second read-out-region, when the detection of the phase difference fails.</p> |
