摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce friction when an internal combustion engine is operated by optimizing rigidity of a magnesium alloy piston for the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This piston for the internal combustion engine is formed of magnesium alloy. The piston for the internal combustion engine includes: a piston head including a piston top and a ring groove forming portion extending downward from the periphery of the piston top; a pair of piston pin bosses provided behind the piston top; and a piston skirt extending downward from a part of the ring groove forming portion. The piston for the internal combustion engine further includes: a plurality of first connecting walls extending downward from the piston top and connecting the pair of piston pin bosses to the piston skirt; second connecting walls extending downward from the piston top and connecting the plurality of first connecting walls to each other; and connecting ribs extending downward from the piston top and connecting the second connecting walls to the portions of the inner peripheral surface of the ring groove forming portion and the inner peripheral surface of the piston skirt, which are located upper than the lower end of the piston skirt.
