<p>In a decoder using systematic block error correcting (e.g. LDPC) codes, a controller unit (220) receives from each of several receivers (212-1 to 212-3) a partial data block comprising a set of data symbols along with a subset of parity symbols received at each of the receivers. For each received partial data block, the controller unit generates its own subset of parity symbols and compares the generated subsets with the respective received subsets of parity symbols, to determine a reliability measure for the received data symbols. One of the sets of data symbols is selected based on the reliability measures. In another embodiment, the controller unit generates a complete set of parity symbols for each received set of data symbols, substitutes a respective received subset of parity symbols in each generated set, and again performs a reliability measure to select a set of data symbols.</p> |
