Multi-purpose device to prevent the transfer of germs and grime on handles and handrails used by the general public

A cover for the handle(s) of a shopping trolley, basket or bag is disclosed, said cover being intended to prevent dirt or germs on the handle being transferred to the hand of the user. The cover comprises an elongate flexible enclosure with an opening along one side, said opening being passed over the handle 5 in use so that the circumference of the handle is substantially enclosed (figure 9). The opening may be located on the underside of a trolley handle, or on the upper side of the handles of a basket or bag (figures 13,14) so that the cover is used to grip the handles. The cover may contain an anti-bacterial agent, and may have a raised rim 3 to help keep the users hand within the length of the cover. The cover may have internal ribs 4 for helping to grip the handle, and it may also be used for gripping handrails.
