1. A method of wireless communications by a wireless node to an access point, comprising:
transmitting a message frame on a wireless channel at a first transmit power to protect one or more subsequent data frames, wherein the message frame comprises a clear-to-send (CTS) to self (CTS-to-self) message with a duration field with a value selected to cover transmission of the subsequent data frames; and transmitting the subsequent data frames on the wireless channel to the access point at a second transmit power that is reduced relative to the first transmit power.
