In one embodiment, a lighting apparatus includes a light source unit having light emitting units arranged in a longitudinal direction. A transparent cover member is formed in a substantially straight pipe shape and having openings at both ends for housing the light source unit along the longitudinal direction. The cover member has a higher thermal expansion coefficient than that of the light source unit. End plate members are fixed to the both ends of the light source unit and close the openings at the both ends of the cover member.

1. A lighting apparatus, comprising:
a light source unit including a plurality of light emitting units arranged in a longitudinal direction of the light source unit; a transparent cover member formed in a substantially straight tubular shape defining an interior space and having openings at both ends, the cover member housing the light source unit along the longitudinal direction of the light source unit, the cover member having a higher thermal expansion coefficient than a thermal expansion coefficient of the light source unit; and a plurality of end plate members, each end plate member being fixed to one of the ends of the light source unit and closing the opening at the end of the cover member to which the end plate member is fixed; wherein the light source unit is accommodated in the interior space of the cover member, and the light source unit contacts an inner surface of the cover member.
