Provided are a device and a method for detecting surface defects of a circular wire using ultrasonic waves. The device for detecting surface defects comprises an ultrasonic sensor which transmits ultrasonic waves to a circular wire sinking to a certain medium and in which transmitted ultrasonic waves receive the reflected waves reflected by the circular wire; and a control unit which detects the position of surface defects of the circular wire based on a received time difference of the received reflected waves. The device for detecting surface defects can simply detect the position of the surface defects of the circular wire. |
