A compound for improving liver function is provided to cause no side effect in the human body using a composition containing one or more rear earth elements, to protect the liver, to strengthen a function of the liver, to accelerate dissolution of an acetaldehyde and an alcohol and to prevent crapulence. A compound for improving liver function contains rear earth element or a salt of the rear earth element, or an oxide. The rear earth element is selected from a group consisting of lanthanum(La), cerium(Ce), praseodymium(Pr), neodymium(Nd), promethium(Pm), samarium(Sm), europium(Eu), gadolinium(Gd), terbium(Tb), dysprosium(Dy), holmium(Ho), erbium(Er), thulium(Tm), ytterbium(Yb), lutetium(Lu), scandium(Sc), yttrium(Y) and a mixture thereof as an active ingredient. The composition is used as tablet, hard or soft capsule, granule, chewing gad, pilule, powder, elixir, suspension agent, emulsion, solution, syrup, aerosol, sachet, sterilization injection solution, or sterilization powder. |
