The present invention provides a method for automatic cleaning background application of electronic device, an electronic device and a storage medium. The method comprises: acquiring the occupancy rate of a CPU or an internal memory of an electronic device and periodically judging whether the occupancy rate of the CPU or the internal memory of the electronic device exceeds a preset threshold value or not; and querying all the application programs running in the system background of the electronic device and recognizing the non-system application programs in all the application programs when the occupancy rate of the CPU or the internal memory of the electronic device exceeds the preset threshold value; and invoking a universal interface for closing an application program of the system to close the non-system application programs according to the program information of the non-system application programs. The present invention also provides an electronic device and a storage medium.
