A remotely operable vehicle compartment lock

Disclosed is a remotely operable lock for a vehicle compartment. The remotely operable lock comprises rotary latch, a detent (53), an electrical actuator and a manually operated member (100). The detent (53) is movable from a lock position to an unlocked position for preventing and allowing turning of the rotary latch. The electrical actuator is mechanically coupled to the detent (53) to selectively move the detent (53) from the locked position to the unlocked position. The manually operated member (100) is arranged to selectively interfere with movement of the detent (53) to either hold the detent (53) in the locked position or the unlocked position irrespective of the action of the electrical actuator.
