The present invention provides a method and an apparatus for controlling a headlight of a vehicle comprising: a first photographing part for photographing a current headlight of other vehicles located in a short distance or a long distance, a current taillight of other vehicles located in a short distance, and a current street light located in a short distance or a long distance; a second photographing part for photographing a current taillight of other vehicles located in in a long distance; a long distance interest area setting part for estimating vanishing point data by recognizing a road lane photographed in the second photographing part, and setting a current long distance interest area of other vehicles located in a long distance based on the estimated vanishing point data; an image processing part for processing current headlight data of other vehicles, current taillight data of other vehicles, current street light data, and current image data corresponding to current long distance interest area data of other vehicles by receiving current headlight data of other vehicles, current taillight data of other vehicles, and current street light data photographed in the first photographing part, and receiving current long distance interest area data of other vehicles set in the long distance interest area setting part; a control part for receiving current image data processed in the image processing part, and including a data range of each preset reference image; and a headlight operating part for operating a headlight for a vehicle according to control of the control part to control a headlight brightness level of the vehicle adjusted to the data range of each reference image by receiving current image data. |
