The jacket (RW) has body elements (4, 8) providing lift force, and a supplementary rescue unit (1) provided in the life jacket to provide automatic lift force during emergency condition. The rescue unit is automatically released due to a control unit (9). Threshold values are adjustable for the release of the rescue unit of sensors by the user using an electronic aid. An automatic inflatable body element is provided for supplementary arrangement in the jacket where the rescue unit and a control unit form a component.
