PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nanocomposite having a high refractive index which is excellent in heat resistance and transparency and can suppress the generation of cracks when the thickness is increased and a method for producing the same, and further to provide a surface light emitting element which is improved in light emission efficiency by using the nanocomposite.SOLUTION: There is provided a nanocomposite which has a matrix resin containing polyimide, inorganic oxide fine particles, a first functional group which modifies the surface of inorganic oxide fine particles and has an imide skeleton and a second functional group which modifies the surface of the inorganic oxide fine particles and bonds to the matrix resin and comprises surface modified inorganic oxide fine particles dispersed in the matrix resin.
