摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a pressure of component perpendicular to an axis acting on an engaging part between both gears from occurring and improve a machine accuracy of a driving device using a rack pinion mechanism.SOLUTION: This machine tool comprises a bed 11, a workpiece mounting table 13 supported on the top surface of the bed 11 in such a way that it can move linearly and a rack pinion mechanism 14 for linearly moving the table 13. The rack pinion mechanism 14 comprises a pair of horizontal racks 21A, 21B fixed on the top surface of the bed 11 and having each of lateral oriented teeth 31A, 31B, a pair of vertical pinions 22A, 22B engaged with the teeth 31A, 31B of each of the racks 21A, 21B forming a couple with each of both racks 21A, 21B and rotatably supported at specified positions by the table 13, and a driving device 23 installed at the table 13 so as to rotate both pinions 22A, 22B simultaneously and in opposite directions to each other. Both racks 21A, 21B have each of teeth tips faced in an opposite direction in a rack width direction and extend in parallel to each other in a table moving direction.
