PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress wear of a magnetic head and degrading of a read and write performance for magnetic information.SOLUTION: A magnetic head unit 4 includes a magnetic head 6 which is brought into contact with a moving card C and performs reading and writing of magnetic information from and to a magnetic stripe of the card C; and a pad roller 7 which supports the card C from a side opposite to the magnetic head 6, and sandwiches the card C between itself and the magnetic head 6 in a thickness direction Z. A magnetic head unit holding mechanism 5 for holding the magnetic head unit 4 is composed of a holder 8 to which the magnetic head unit 4 is attached, and a shaft 9 and compression springs 10u and 10b which support the holder 8 in a manner movable with respect to a frame 1 of a card reader 101 in the thickness direction Z of the card C. |
