PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a delay from the start of a period of distortion correction processing in a horizontal direction to an input image until the acquisition of a final correction image.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a horizontal distortion correction processing unit that performs distortion correction processing in a horizontal direction in an input image according to a synchronization signal supplied thereto; a memory that sequentially stores results of the distortion correction processing in a horizontal direction performed by the horizontal distortion correction processing unit; and a vertical distortion correction processing unit that subsequently reads out the results of the distortion correction processing in a horizontal direction sequentially from the memory after the start of the distortion correction processing in a horizontal direction performed by the horizontal distortion correction processing unit by a delay of a predetermined time less than one frame, and starts distortion correction processing in a vertical direction.
