The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for calculating a wind load. The apparatus for calculating a wind load according to one embodiment of the present invention includes a height information collecting unit which collects the height information on a plurality of points in a region; a frequency distribution calculating unit which calculates a frequency distribution of the heights of the points; and a parameter calculating unit which allocates ground roughness to the grade of the frequency distribution and calculates a parameter of the region by applying a weight based on the frequency distribution to a parameter set at each ground roughness to calculate the wind load.
